Our Why
SEU Missions exists to equip the next generation of students to rise up and take their place in God’s global story. In obedience to the Great Commission, we are committed to taking the good news to the ends of the earth, living as the hands and feet of Jesus both locally and globally.
Everywhere we go, we are reminded: the harvest is still plentiful. But we believe the workers don’t have to be so few!
This is God’s story. He alone is at the center. Our mission is not self-driven, but Christ-centered. We fix our eyes on Jesus, surrender our hearts to His will, and walk in step with His Spirit. Our mission is not to make a name for ourselves, but to lift high the name of the King. As servants of the King, we actively partner with churches and ministries around the world to participate in a global, redemptive mission; empowering local leaders, honoring the global Church, and advancing the Gospel together.
Because this is not about us, we will engage in cross-cultural ministry with humility, cultural sensitivity, and deep respect for our partners and their context. We choose encouragement over self-interest and prioritize building others up over elevating ourselves. In every interaction and every effort, we aim to mirror the heart of Christ as we serve with humility, uplift with honor, and offer our best as an act of worship.
We believe that advancing the Kingdom and honoring people requires more than passion. It takes preparation, discipline, and a commitment to doing the unseen things well. From the dreaming to the details, from the training to the follow-up, we commit to doing our work with excellence at every stage. Excellence is not about perfection. It is about stewardship. We pursue excellence because we serve a King who is worthy of nothing less.
We are stepping into a story that God has been writing long before we arrived and will continue writing long after we leave. His work in the nations does not begin or end with us. This has never been about us. It has always been about Him. Yet, in His grace, He invites us to be a part of what He is doing. Jesus has our unconditional yes. We will go. For the King. With honor. In excellence.
One of the most special things about SEU Missions is that we are student led and student run. That means all of our trips are led by students and our office team is compiled of staff and students here at SEU! Alongside the staff, our student leaders work in the office during the week overseeing all areas of our department. From planning events here on campus, overseeing trip finances, tracking participant paperwork, or planning local outreach, our student leadership team helps the department run. In the early spring, student leader applications go out across the SEU campus. There, you can apply and interview to be apart of the SEU Missions student leadership team!
